rach-slut-berry:

Noticing the way Sam put his arm around her, she raised an eyebrow. She didn’t move away though. She liked it. It was nice. Brianna was sitting up to look over the side of the cart, and Rachel kept her arms around the little girl protectively. After a few minutes of this, she finally slouched down, and yawned loudly. Rachel shook her head lightly at the girl, and looked at Sam. “Yeah, I really am, actually. I’m glad we came.” She said, looking out at the view. So far, they were only halfway up the ferris wheel, but it was still pretty high. Before she knew it, she found herself scooting a little bit closer to Sam, and leaning her head on his shoulder. Brianna was drifting off to sleep in her lap. It was very peaceful, she liked it.

To anyone who might get a glance inside of there little cart it might look like they were the perfect family, or two teenagers taking one of there siblings out to the fair. Whatever. His insides were doing a silent victory dance that she didn’t freak when he put his arm around her. It took him forever just to do so, it was weird how around Rachel it was hard to be the smooth talking dbag he usually was. Any other girl and he’d already be making out with her at the top of the wheel, but Rachel made him nervous now. Like he needed to take all of this slow and with great thought. One wrong move, and that’d just mess everything he’d been working on up. “I’m glad we came too.” Sam said looking down at the ground below them as the carts stopped momentarily giving each wheel a break at the top. “I’m really glad to be here with you.” Sam said putting a hand on her face and tilting it slightly to meet his lips in a soft kiss.

rach-slut-berry:

The carousel ride was really fun for Brianna, she could tell. She never stopped giggling, and didn’t want to get off when it ended. Once they got off, she didn’t know where they wanted to go next, so they wandered for a bit. After a minute, she felt Sam’s hand wrap around hers, and raised an eyebrow in his direction. She wasn’t going to cause a scene in front of everyone however, so she went with it, mainly because it felt good to hold his hand. They’d been through a lot, but had never really been intimate. She was pretty sure the most intimate moment they had was when Brianna was born, and they looked at her the first time. When Sam mentioned the ferris wheel, she glanced in the direction of it, and smiled. “Sure, that’d be nice.” She answered, walking toward the ride. She held on to Sam’s hand the entire time, really liking the feeling she got from it. Once they reached the ferris wheel, she let go of his hand to hold on to Brianna, who was getting fussy. It was apparent that she didn’t want to go on the ride. She calmed her down, and by that time they were in the front of the line. She climbed into the cart, and got comfortable with Brianna on her lap, and next to Sam.

It was defiantly a good sign when Rachel didn’t pull her hand away, maybe things were looking up for the two of them. Of course as nice as her hand felt in his he couldn’t help but frown when she dropped his to take care of there fussy child. Leave it to Sam to be hand cock-blocked by a one year old. He put his hands in his pockets as they waited on line bouncing the balls of his feet like an excited twelve year old. Out of all the fairs he went to with girls he knew how this worked, you’d get to the top and maybe just maybe be lucky enough to get a kiss. Of course these wasn’t really the ideal situation, never before did he have to work around a small child. He’d figured he’d wing it like he did with everything else so far. Getting in the cart the sat down next to Rachel who had Brianna on her lap. She seemed interested in the rides her face forming an excited look every time the wheel would slowly move up to let on more passengers. Sam stretched his arm over the back of the cart putting it around Rachel and Brianna as casually as he possibly could. “So are you having a good time?” He asked Rachel.

From the way Brianna clapped, and started squealing, Rachel was taking that as a yes for the carousel. Laughing, she got a better grip on Brianna, and walked with Sam toward the line for the carousel. While they waited, she noticed how Brianna looked around with wide, curious eyes. She had Sam’s eyes. In fact, Rachel knew she looked more like Sam than herself. Which was fine, because Sam was pretty. She chuckled to herself and made a note to tell him that sometime. When they finally made it to the front of the line, Brianna pointed toward one of the horses, and Rachel chuckled looking at Sam, and leading her over to it. Setting her down on the horse, she held on to her, intending to stand there throughout the ride. She looked at Sam and smiled, when Brianna squealed again. She hung on to the bar, and Rachel laughed.

Sam watched as they got on the carousel standing on either side of Brianna as she rode the horse. She seemed to enjoy it, and Sam every so often took a sly look in Rachel’s direction. He was really sucking in this whole ‘wooing’ Rachel department, maybe it was because he didn’t know where to begin. He figured it’d be easy, he’d get her flowers open a few doors and boom, they’d be in love and drive off into the sunset together. Nothing was ever that simple though, he’d need to think of something. As the carousel spun round and round he tried to think of something, anything. They got off the ride and walked aimlessly away from it, Sam reached for Rachel’s free hand when they walked and prayed to all the gods, that she wouldn’t smack him in the face as he attempted to lace there fingers together. “So.. Ferris Wheel next?” He asked casually.

rach-slut-berry:

Rachel was actually a little shocked at Sam’s pleasantness. But she liked it. She was just really confused. Shaking it off, she enjoyed the car ride. It was short, and surprisingly enjoyable. She had to admit she was impressed at Sam’s behavior. He held her door open, much to her surprise, and thanked him. When he said he’d get the tickets, she nodded. “Alright.” Walking together, they approached the booth where tickets were being sold. She took Brianna, so Sam could pay for the tickets. Once they were all situated, they went into the fair, and Brianna looked amazed. She squirmed to get down, and Rachel laughed. “Well, where should we start?” She asked Sam. She glanced around a little bit. “Let’s take her on the carousel. I think she’d like that.” She suggested.

Sam didn’t even know where to start with a baby at a carnival, in fact the more he thought about it the more it seemed like a bad idea. But him and Rachel could be grade A parents when they wanted to be. He needed to push those worries aside, today was going to be the day he showed Rachel they could be a perfect little family and that, they were meant for each other. In the back of his mind he always had this idea that him and Rachel would end up together because, you know they had a child together. But there was more than just having a child together that made him want to be with her now. She was funny, quick witted and fast to call him out on his shit. Although they argued a lot they complimented each other perfectly. “The carousel sounds like a great idea.” Sam said waving his finger in Brianna’s face. “You want to ride of horsey Bri?” He asked the squirming child in Rachel’s arms.

rach-slut-berry:

While Rachel waited for Sam, she started a game of peek a boo with Brianna. Lately, it was her favorite. Brianna seemed so amazed by the simple act of putting her hand over her face, and then moving it. But whatever kept her entertained. Rachel did this for a few minutes before Sam emerged, and turned toward him, raising an eyebrow at the flowers in his hand. She moved to take the flower from Brianna when she tried to eat it, but Sam beat her there. She laughed lightly, and accepted them from Sam. She wouldn’t lie, it was weird. But it was a sweet gesture, she had to admit. She smiled. “Thanks..” She said. She handed Brianna off to him. “Let me just put them in water or something really fast and then we can go.” She said. She went into the kitchen and filled up a vase with water, and set them in it, and returned to the living room where Sam and Brianna were waiting. “So.. Let’s get this show on the road, then!” She took Brianna again, and walked with Sam out to the car. She started talking to Brianna as she put her in her carseat. “Are you ready for the fair, Bri?” She asked, buckling her in. Brianna clapped her hands together. “Fair!” She answered. Rachel kissed her forehead, and closed the door, making her way to the passenger side. She’d let Sam drive, he knew where they were going.

Sam smiled because, this was all kind of awkward. He hoped the grin he was giving off was more endearing than, ‘I-don’t-know-what-the-fuck-I’m-doing.’ Walking to the car he half debated holding the door open for Rachel, but that would have been taking things way to far, she probably didn’t realize he was considering this a date. After all he said the word twice so it was official, in his mind anyway… Once they were all situated in the car he drove the route of the fair, it wasn’t to far away from where they lived so the drive was pretty silent and pleasant. Once he found a parking space he got out of the car this time going for it and opening Rachel’s door, because that was all gentleman like and stuff. He got Brianna out of her car seat glad to have something to do with his hands as he balanced her on his hip. “So..I’ll get us tickets?” Sam asked a bit awkwardly.

rach-slut-berry:

Rachel smiled at Sam. “That sounds fine. I planned on getting a little more studying done anyway.” And with that, she returned to her studying.

-Later that eveningggg-

It was a pretty quiet day, Rachel had been able to get Brianna down for a nap before the fair, and got ready before she woke up. Once Brianna had stopped fussing from being awoken from her nap, Rachel got her ready to go. Sam had been pretty anti-social today, but he did say he’d had things to do. So she didn’t worry about it too much. She called out to him. “Sam, Bri and I are ready, whenever you are!” She sat down, Brianna on her lap, occupied with her teddy bear. She was mumbling incoherent nothings, and seemed engrossed. Rachel just watched her, amused, as they waited for Sam. When he finally emerged from his room, she stood, picking Brianna up. “Ready?” She asked.

Sam left the house that day to do his normal routine, gym and what not. He was trying his best to figure out how to go about this whole Rachel thing. Girls were generally an easy subject for him, but seriously dating, that was hard, and how did one even start serious dating with a girl who was clearly not interested. He was put off when his plan of shirtlessness didn’t seem to work, it was suppose to be fool proof but apparently not. He was going to have to try this ‘cute’ dating approach. Which was why, he stopped and got Rachel flowers for there ‘date.’ So, maybe it wasn’t a real date as he didn’t really ask her, but he figured throwing the word ‘date’ in their twice made it Sam official. Sam paced his room for a few seconds after getting ready, because flowers seemed like a lame idea, if anything they’d probably confuse the crap out of her. Still he was going to try this method anyway. He emerged for his room with a cheery smile on his face. “Yes, I’m ready.” He said feeling awkward holding the flowers. “I thought I’d be nice get my girls flowers.” He said breaking off one for Brianna and handing it to her, but quickly taking it away when she went with it straight to her mouth. “Err. I got you these.” he said handing the bigger bunch to Rachel.

rach-slut-berry:

Rachel thought it over for a minute, then nodded. “Okay, that sounds fun!” She answered, a smile forming on her face. Rachel loved fairs. But who didn’t? The rides, the games, the  food, everything about fairs were fun. And Rachel was definitely excited now. She thought about all the stuff they could do with Brianna too. Face paintings, taking her on the merry-go-round, stuff like that. And it would be a great way to spend more time with Sam as well. “I’m definitely down with this idea.” She agreed.

“Good.” Sam said with a smirk on his face, clearly she didn’t sense the plan already forming in his little blonde head. Tonight, he was going to ‘woo’ her, take out all the stops she’d have no idea what was coming. Plan A, walk around topless didn’t seem that effective but Plan b, plan b was going to work. “So it’s a date then.” Sam said again, clapping his hands together effectively. “I just have a few things I need to do beforehand, but I guess we’ll tonight when it opens then?” Sam asked her.

rach-slut-berry:

Rachel had zoned out momentarily, reading a section in her book, so she didn’t notice when Sam came in. When she did notice, she smiled, and watched him pick up Brianna. She shook her head at him. She nodded at him slowly.”That could be nice.” She said. She had gotten used to Sam walking around shirtless at this point, so she didn’t take much notice. Everyday it was getting harder to hide her feelings for Sam, and some days she wondered why she wouldn’t take a chance. And then she remembered all the times her heart had been broken. But with Sam it was different. She was still on the fence about all of it, so for now she was keeping it to herself. But often days she found herself daydreaming about how things would be if she and Sam were together. It was nice to think about. But for now , she’d keep quiet. “What did you have in mind?” She asked.

Sam made sure to throw in extra flexes as he talked to Rachel. “There’s a fair in town we could go to that.” He said wiggling his fingers in front of brianna’s face. “Does that sound fun? Want to go to the fair with Mommy and Daddy?” Sam asked as Brianna clapped, clearly liking that idea even though she had no clue what he was say. “Brie thinks it’s good idea, it’d be fun like a family date.” he said casually throwing the word date in there.

rach-slut-berry:

Rachel noticed that lately, Sam was acting strangely. Ever since he’d returned from his trip home he’d been spending more and more time around Rachel. Not that she really minded, it was just weird. She didn’t notice at first that he’d started walking around without a shirt on. When she did start to realize, she also realized that he was nearly always shirtless. She didn’t question it, but she was definitely confused. But this was Sam, after all. He did weird things a lot. So she tried to ignore it. But even Rachel had to admit that Sam had a really nice body. It was hard to not look sometimes. But she tried not to. She told herself she wasn’t going to screw things up with Sam. It seemed as if he were almost doing it on purpose. But he couldn’t be. Right?

And now, today was yet another Sunday and Rachel was studying for her music theory class, Brianna sitting in her lap occupied with her favorite teddy bear. She took that bear nearly everywhere, the park, daycare, bed. The only reason she didn’t takit with her to the bath was because Rachel made sure to hide it so it wouldn’t get destroyed. Brianna seemed content just laughing every so often. Rachel decided to let Sam sleep in today, as she usually used Brianna to wake him up. She just figured he could use a break today.

Ever since he got back home from visiting his Mom, Sam was on a mission. That mission was to make Rachel crack and admit she had feelings for him. There was no way in hell he was going to be the first one to put everything out there… again… especially if she didn’t feel the same way. So he took out the big guns, shirts were prohibited, and he even went as far as to strut around in a towel after a shower making sure to ‘accidently’ drop it in front of her. Nothing seemed to be working, he even went as far as to google ‘ways to get a girl’ and from what he gathered, there were other ways to get a girl aside from just strutting around with your shirt off.. those ways of course were his Plan B were he seemed to be heading.

He woke up that morning shocked to see the time, it was rare to have an actual morning with an uninterrupted eight hours of sleep. Still he was a little upset not to be woken up by his two favorite people. He went through his usual morning sit ups and push ups, today was a nonrunning day so he hopped into the shower fast before getting dress. He threw on a pair of sweats and made his way out to Rachel and Brianna, there was no need for a shirt as he made sure to flex his muscles as he walked towards them. “Good Morning.” He said scooping the child off Rachel’s lap. “Are you helping Mama study?” asked and Brianna just nodded, saying help. “Are you going to study all day, or do you maybe want to do something later with just the three of us?” he asked Rachel.

One week later

rach-slut-berry:

Rachel laughed. “Yes, my life is oh so sad and meaningless without you here with me..” She said, mocking his tone. She laughed again, and smiled at him holding Brianna. “That’s good then, at least you didn’t have a horrible time.” She pointed out. “Oh really now?” She knew Sam’s mom liked her. Rachel was the closest thing to a daughter that she was going to get. So it was understandable. “I wouldn’t be surprised if she liked me better, I’m the nice one.” She boasted. She was joking, of course. Rachel shook her head. “I wouldn’t mind going to see her again, I have the feeling it’d be better than the last time I was there..” She recalled. The last time she was there had not gone very smoothly. Dealing with a crazy chick, and breaking her rib definitely wasn’t what Rachel considered a good vacation.

“We should get out of here, go back home and stuff.” Rachel suggested, turning her head toward the entrance to the airport.

Sam snorted when Rachel claimed to be the nice one. “Yeah, nice one you.” He said shaking his head laughing slightly. “but, in all seriousness… She’s my mother not yours… she gave birth to me…. you think she’d like me more.” He said shrugging. Needless to say Sam’s mom was a little upset that his visit didn’t have Rachel and her granddaughter with him. “Anything would be better then last time.” Sam said having already pushed the memory far from his head. Leaving sounded like an amazing idea, he just wanted to go home and curl up in his bed there, was something about plane rides that just made him exhausted. “Yes, home and stuff.” He said following her out of the airport.
